One More One Less Project works to Inform, Inspire and Intertwine the local church with foster care and adoption.
nIn our last blog post, we talked about our vision statement and how we really wanted that to make sense for our supporters and for people to better understand the heart behind our vision statement! “We exist to inform, inspire, and intertwine the local church with foster care and adoption.” Hopefully you have a better understanding of “Inform” and why that is such a vital component to our ministry.
Now, let’s talk about “Inspire”.
C.S. Lewis said, “The more often we feel without acting, the less we will ever be able to ever act, and, in the long run, the less we will be able to feel.”
Our heart is for the church to not resemble this quote when it comes to foster care.
As we travel around to different churches all over NC, we inspire others by sharing stories from personal experience and how God has used those situations to bring “One More and One Less.” We have been blessed by a wonderful team and each one of us brings a unique experience into foster care. If we had no stories to share about what God has done, it would be really hard to get churches on board with truly creating a culture of foster care and adoption. We have been called to share how God has used us, how God has used these children in our lives and how he is changing us through the very thing He has called us to. If we don’t share this, how can others be inspired to step into this same calling?
Our heart for children in foster care, begins with our realization that we were helpless until Jesus brought us into his family through the cross. God uses our emotions! Our emotions drive us into decisions by the Holy Spirit moving in our hearts, and Jesus’ steadfastness allows us to persevere everyday, one day at a time.
Inspiration often comes from those closest to us (like those sitting next to us on Sunday mornings!) It’s important that we find people around us that are like minded. We believe people like us (Christians), do things like this (foster and adopt.) If we want to be world changers, we should hang out with people who are working to change the world. If we want to be foster parents and feel God calling us to that, we should engage with other foster parents who can help support us in that calling and speak into what is ahead so we are not left feeling alone.
Inspiring others is a HUGE way we can further the mission God has given us to engage the local church through foster care and adoption!
YOU can be part of this inspiration! We want to hear your stories! We don’t desire to simply share our own stories and our own experience but we believe that what God’s Word says in Genesis 50:20 is TRUE: “You meant evil against me, but God used it for good.” We know sometimes your story may be hard to share and may come with some heavy realities but God can and will use it ALL for good if you allow him to. He is a loving God and doesn’t force His children to share their stories. It’s up to us to let God change us and use us!
If you are a foster parent, adoptive parent, foster child, social worker, GAL volunteer, Suday School teacher, school teacher or pastor and you have a story that you feel would inspire others toward foster care and adoption… and ultimately Jesus, we would love to hear from you! Simply email us your story, your experience and your thoughts at [email protected].
